GCC, LPC, & CSUN | Language Equity in Academia: Reimagining kNowledge (LEARN) Conference
Please join us in calling out “standard English” as the marker of intelligence and academic success at the fourth (!) annual Language Equity in Academia: Reimagining kNowledge (LEARN) Conference, hosted by Glendale Community College in partnership with Las Positas College and CSU Northridge on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm PST, over Zoom.
This conference is FREE and completely online! We’re excited for our keynote: Dr. Socorro Herrera, Executive Director, Center for Intercultural Multilingual Advocacy at Kansas State University, who does transformative work on the ideological perceptions of race and language in the context of American education.
Language/linguistic justice and equity (LJE) practitioners will present interactively, and we will hear from students in a panel–all with a focus on various ways to bring LJE to curricula across the disciplines and overall campus culture.
This is a great opportunity for educators from all areas and those invested in campus equity to join us for a transformative conference dedicated to advancing social justice and language equity.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact conference co-coordinators, Kelan Koning kelan.koning@csun.edu and Julie Gamberg jgamberg@glendale.edu.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday, June 13th!
