The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program (CEP) is pleased to host a virtual training session entitled The ASVAB CEP: A valid assessment for occupational exploration with young adults. The training session will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.. Historically and today, the ASVAB serves as one of many prerequisites to determine an individual’s fitness for service in the military; however, in the past 25 years, the ASVAB CEP has become a reliable occupational exploration resource used by high school and postsecondary students, ages 16-23, and as a valid predictor of future work performance. This webinar will provide a brief overview of the history and research behind the ASVAB, as well as a tour of the OCCU-FIND resource utilizing an individual’s ASVAB scores and other trait-factor assessment results for occupational exploration. We will conclude with an open conversation surrounding attendees’ impressions of the tool and how it may fit within their current work with early-career college students and focused populations.
