CCC | Practical A.I. Tools for Inclusive Education: Designing Accessible Course Materials for Every Learner

Thursday, May 14, 2026`2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Note: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. This webinar requires access/registration outside of the Vision Resource Center. Accessible course materials don’t require faculty to become accessibility experts — they require the right tools, habits, and prompting strategies. This session addresses the full lifecycle of course content: how to build accessibility in from the first draft, and how to efficiently bring existing materials into compliance.

Participants will learn to use AI assistants to generate structured, accessible course content from scratch — syllabi, handouts, Canvas module outlines, and assignments — with WCAG 2.1 and Universal Design for Learning principles embedded from the start. They will also develop practical skills for evaluating and remediating existing documents using free tools already available in the platforms they use every day.

The session covers accessible structure for Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, and Canvas pages — including heading hierarchy, alt text, color contrast, reading order, and plain language. Participants leave with reusable prompts, reference guides, and checklists they can apply to every piece of course content they create going forward.
