ASCCC | AI Syllabus Statements: Building Transparency, Trust, and Shared Responsibility
As generative AI becomes increasingly integrated into teaching and learning, clear syllabus statements can help establish shared expectations while supporting academic integrity, transparency, and student success. This webinar will explore approaches to developing AI syllabus statements that communicate when and how AI tools may be used, clarify both faculty and student responsibilities, and promote transparency in the use of AI for teaching, learning, and assessment.
The session will examine examples of permissive, limited, and restricted AI use statements, discuss considerations related to academic freedom, accessibility, equity, and privacy, and highlight the role of local academic senates in developing guidance and supporting professional development.
