2022 Ensuring Transfer Success

EXTERNAL REGISTRATION: This conference for community college counselors provides new and veteran counselors with comprehensive information about UC transfer admission policies and practices. Ensuring Transfer Success (ETS) is a collaborative project of the University of California and the California Community Colleges. The information provided is designed for community college staff and faculty who are involved in preparing transfer students for admission to UC, including academic counselors, transfer center directors, articulation officers, student services officers, EOP counselors and disabled student services counselors.

Transfer 101
Are you looking to brush up on the basics? Join this interactive session to get a foundational understanding of the UC transfer admission process. Our Transfer 101 session will include the defining a transfer student, eligibility vs selection, navigating ASSIST, transferability vs articulation, advising students with UC and UC Extension records and counselor resources.

UC Application: Strategies for supporting accurate completion
This workshop will focus on how your students can complete the UC transfer application accurately. We’ll focus on tabs where students tend to make the most mistakes and we will provide insight on how to navigate the tools within the application. While we will not go through each section of the UC application, we will leave time for you to ask questions about any part of the application.

Transferring to the University of California may feel overwhelming. Students may feel pressure to get acclimated to the campus culture within a few months. The UC system seeks to provide our diverse transfer student population with a foundation of support programs and services focused on ensuring successful transitions, cultivating community on campus, and fostering a positive student experience on campus.

Don’t let summer go to waste! You want to know the secret to teaching your students how to add value to their admissions application and prepare for UC enrollment? Whether you are a new counselor or a seasoned pro, come learn about the benefits your students will gain in engaging in summer enrichment experiences. In this session, you will learn about UC-wide opportunities, for transfer students, including an overview of summer program eligibility and resources. In addition, we will share student reflections and you can sit back and unwind with these helpful counselor advising tips. It’s the summertime…”
I-G-E-T-C: Find out what it means to me!     
There are several paths to satisfying general education requirements, with IGETC being the most popular. We will be covering different components of the IGETC, how to maximize use, what it means for partial completion, and which majors are better suited for it.

TAP into the TAG     
Successful transferring is all about planning! Join us to learn more about the UC Transfer Admissions (TAP) Planner and how students can utilize the tool. Counselors will also learn more about UC’s Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) opportunity.
Supporting Students Interested in Health Professions Careers
This session will introduce a framework to support transfer students interested in pursuing a career in the health professions. Presenters will discuss prerequisite coursework for all majors, health professions admissions requirements, engagement opportunities, application timeline and resources to help aid your students in navigating health career pathways.
