The pressure to increase degree and certificate completion numbers has been mounting since the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and other leaders in higher education signed an agreement in 2010 to enact the Obama Administration’s College Completion Challenge. This ambitious challenge committed community colleges in the nation to increasing the number of students completing degrees and certificates by 50%, or five million more students by the year 2020.
