A short presentation on the Math Performance Success (MPS) Program at De Anza College from the Feb. 22, 2016 Basic Skills Transformation Workshop has been provided here. The presentation highlights key parts of the highly successful Math Performance Success (MPS) program at De Anza College. This presentation was part of an Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) Basic Skills and Student Outcomes Transformation Program workshop.

The Challenge

Nationally, students taking developmental mathematics courses have low success in progressing through and completing a transfer level mathematics courses, especially in a one-year time period.


Integrated student services were incorporated into the program: embedded counseling, embedded tutoring, double class time, student cohorts, active learning, and a faculty team approach.

Data and Outcomes

Outside research show a closing of the student achievement equity gap in both developmental mathematics and transfer-level statistics.
