SUMMARY:CCC | Getting Started With LibreTexts ADAPT Open Homework and Assessment Platform
DESCRIPTION:Note: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. This webinar requires access/registration outside of the Vision Resource Center. If you would like to track the time you spent attending any trainings from external providers please record your time using External Training and the time will be reflected on your Learning Transcript. \n Free\, flexible\, and built for use with OER\, ADAPT is LibreTexts alternative to expensive commercial homework and assessment platforms. This webinar will show you everything you need to get started. We’ll cover how ADAPT fits into the mission of making education more affordable and accessible for everyone. From there\, we’ll dig into what makes ADAPT distinctive: a platform that brings together the best of existing open homework systems into one cohesive experience. You’ll get a tour of the question types available (multiple choice\, true/false\, numeric\, and more)\, plus specialty tools like the organic chemistry molecule sketcher and Discuss-It\, which enables threaded audio and visual discussions right inside your course. We’ll also introduce ADAPT’s extensive question database\, giving faculty a head start when building assignments. If you’re looking for a homework platform that doesn’t cost your students a dime\, this is the session for you. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:ASCCC-OERI | Enhancing Biology Instruction with OER Images\, Illustrations\, and Infographics
DESCRIPTION:Note: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. This webinar requires access/registration outside of the Vision Resource Center. If you would like to track the time you spent attending any trainings from external providers\, please record your time using External Training and the time will be reflected on your Learning Transcript. \nImages\, illustrations\, and infographics are essential for helping students grasp complex biological processes and structures\, especially when encountering them for the first time. Yet many instructors who adopt OER find that available images\, illustrations\, and figures are often fewer in number and less detailed than those found in commercial publications. In this conversation\, participants will explore strategies for enhancing their course materials with high-quality\, openly licensed figures. We will examine platforms that provide openly licensed biology images\, illustrations\, and infographics\, and walk through effective search techniques for locating and evaluating these resources. \nBring your questions and examples from your own courses and leave with practical tools and resources to improve the visual quality of your instructional materials. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:CCC | From 1 to 50: How Ventura College Scaled Faculty AI-Readiness Through Communities of Practice
\nThis webinar highlights a proven approach to scaling faculty AI-readiness. SUMMARY:ASCCC | Decolonizing AI In Education: Equity Issues with AI and Exploring How to Address Them in Our Classrooms
\n In review of the burgeoning research on artificial intelligence (AI)\, the vast majority of the existing publications focus on either bias or education but now bridge the two topics of interest. Our session attempts to build an andragogical bridge between the two topics by not only acknowledging the bias in AI but also how this bias may ultimately affect the educational outcomes of students in higher education. In the Age of AI where the digital divide often disadvantages the most marginalized students\, we\, as educators\, should avoid becoming perpetrators in the digital preproduction of inequality. In this session\, our endeavor to decolonize AI in education is two-fold: 1) introduce participants to the equity issues with AI in education and 2) explore the ways in which we might be able to address those issues in our classrooms. \nRegister here
