SUMMARY:ASCCC | Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC)\, Low Textbook Cost (LTC)\, and Burden-Free Instructional Materials (BFIM): What Chief Instructional Officers and Academic Senate Presidents Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:ZTC\, LTC\, and BFIM policies are all components of a system-wide effort to address inequities related to instructional materials. What ZTC-related expectations does the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office have of the colleges? As colleges conclude their ZTC work or develop a spend-down plan\, what actions do local academic leaders need to take? Why should colleges that have an LTC threshold greater than $30 consider changing it? And what does a college need to do to ensure it is compliant with Title 5 § 54221. Burden-Free Access to Instructional Materials? Join us for an overview of what is happening\, what will happen\, and what is expected of you. \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. This webinar requires access/registration outside of the Vision Resource Center. If you would like to track the time you spent attending any trainings from external providers\, please record your time using External Training and the time will be reflected on your Learning Transcript.

SUMMARY:CCC | ZTC Final Report Overview Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In preparation for the ZTC Final Report\, which will be published within the next few weeks in NOVA\, we have scheduled the Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Final Report Webinar. This presentation will provide a report “walk-through” and prepare colleges to successfully complete required ZTC data and fiscal reporting. The ZTC Final Report is particularly important because it is our last opportunity to collect data and information from the colleges that will serve as the key source of material informing the ZTC Legislative Report. We need 100 percent participation from all colleges\, and timely submission of the required data is critical to ensure that the ZTC legislative report accurately reflects the scope and impact of the ZTC Degree Grant Program. The Webinar will be recorded and published for later review; however\, we encourage all ZTC leads\, administrators overseeing ZTC efforts\, researchers and other staff involved in the ZTC Degree Grant Program to register and attend this Webinar using the registration information provided below \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. This webinar requires access/registration outside of the Vision Resource Center. If you would like to track the time you spent attending any trainings from external providers\, please record your time using External Training and the time will be reflected on your Learning Transcript.

SUMMARY:CCC | "Show Your Work" — Then AI Called My Bluff: Rethinking What Our Assessments Actually Measure
DESCRIPTION:If AI can produce what we’ve been asking for\, what were we actually asking for? I spent years telling students to show their work — and it wasn’t until AI that I let myself question an educational tradition of scoring human intellect that never felt completely right. For over a century\, education has asked students to produce things — essays\, tests\, rubric-scored papers — and called it evidence of learning. It wasn’t a bad idea. It was a practical one. But somewhere along the way\, the final submission became the point\, and the thinking and learning behind it became invisible. \n This presentation isn’t about AI detection\, policy\, or whether students are cheating. It’s about an older\, quieter problem: assessment built around collecting output and predetermined outcomes\, not witnessing genuine learning — the confusion\, the questions a student doesn’t know how to ask yet\, the moment something finally clicks. As educators\, we work within systems that need the cleaned-up product at the end — the scores\, the outcomes\, the things that can be counted. But now we have an opening to design assessment around what we actually care about: the learning itself. \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. SUMMARY:CCC | When Canvas Goes Down: A Guide to Instructional Continuity
DESCRIPTION:How do we keep teaching and supporting students when our primary instructional platform is suddenly unavailable? \n In this webinar\, we’ll share how that experience prompted City College of San Francisco to develop an Instructional Continuity Planning Guide and explore practical strategies for maintaining instruction during an LMS disruption. Topics will include communicating with students\, accessing and sharing course materials\, continuing synchronous or asynchronous instruction\, adapting assignments and assessments\, and using backup options such as email\, Zoom\, Pronto\, Simple Syllabus\, and institutionally supported cloud tools. \n We’ll also look at how CCSF developed the guide\, including the process used to identify practical alternatives\, organize faculty guidance\, and create a resource that could be used quickly during an outage. Administrators and instructional leaders will leave with ideas for facilitating a similar continuity-planning process at their own institutions. \nParticipants will leave with both practical strategies for teaching through an LMS disruption and a framework for strengthening instructional continuity and campus readiness before the next unexpected outage occurs. \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. SUMMARY:ASCCC | Who’s on the Other End? Making COOL4Ed Submissions Work for the Next Faculty Member
DESCRIPTION:Somewhere out there is a faculty member at another college searching COOL4Ed for exactly what you built. Will they be able to use it? To date\, over 110 submissions have been made to the portal\, and a review of them reveals how often the answer is no — not because the work is poor\, but because the submission does not provide sufficient context for the next person to fully understand what has been provided and how to use it. Join us for a practical look at what makes a ZTC submission genuinely useful and bring your questions. \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center. SUMMARY:CCC | Introducing The 2027 Online Course Design Rubric
DESCRIPTION:“The 2027 Online Course Design Rubric is being revised\, and this webinar offers an overview look at the work behind that effort. Designed for all California community college faculty\, this session focuses on how the rubric is being shaped\, not a walkthrough of the draft itself. Presenters will share what has been learned through statewide listening sessions\, faculty conversations\, and the POCR pilot\, where reviewers applied draft criteria to real online courses. These activities have surfaced valuable insights about clarity\, usability\, and how the rubric functions in practice for both course authors and reviewers. Whether you are deeply involved in online course design or just beginning to explore online teaching\, this session will help you understand how faculty feedback is influencing the next version of the rubric and what to expect as the work moves toward a public release at the Online Teaching Conference in June 2026.” \nRegister here \nNote: Users cannot register for this webinar through the Vision Resource Center.
