The 2018 State System GISS will be a national gathering of state governing boards from across the country for a two-day institute.
In partnership with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) with support from the Strada Education Network is hosting a nationally acclaimed institute designed expressly for boards for state systems, universities governing boards responsible for community colleges, and technical college system boards and their leaders. Guided by ACCT’s national expertise, state and system leaders will engage in thoughtful and courageous conversations around the importance of effective and data-informed governance policies design to support student success, equity, completion and workforce preparation for their states.
The Governance Institute for Student Success (GISS) has designed an exclusive institute that will create connections between higher education results and economic development for state system leaders.
We encourage whole boards to attend, but at least three or more trustees and the State System CEO/Chancellor/President and college presidents. Having representatives from senior system and college staff and research officers attend is also highly recommended.
LOCATION & MEETING TIME: The Institute will be held at the Executive Center in the Alabama Center for Advanced Technology and Training (ACATT) building at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama.
