GCC | Call To Proposals – Language Equity in Academia: Reimagining kNowledge (LEARN) Conference

We are seeking participants to present at the third annual Language Equity in Academia: Reimagining kNowledge (LEARN) Conference, hosted by Glendale Community College with Las Positas College on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm PST, over Zoom. Please also save the date for this virtual, free conference!
The conference will focus on various ways to bring language/linguistic equity to community college curricula and overall campus culture. Our goal is to bring together those working or interested in working in language equity pedagogy to exchange ideas, approaches, and tools to broaden the use of language equity strategies in education with a focus on community colleges (and beyond).
This year’s keynote speaker will be Sunn m’Cheaux–a Gullah teacha, prominent social media activist, and Harvard scholar! If you are interested in presenting as an individual, as part of a panel, or in hosting a workshop please complete the following form and choose which mode of presentation you prefer to facilitate: Link to Call to Proposals
Please note that you can choose to present:

a 75-minute interactive workshop (solo, with collaborators, or as a panel)

a 35-minute lightning round which is a great pick for first time presenters, new ideas, or shorter topics/discussions (solo, with collaborators, or as a panel)

we are also looking for those who might want to organize a 60-minute student panel or 60-minute faculty panel
This is a great opportunity for educators from all areas as well as graduate students to partake in a transformative conference dedicated to advancing social justice and linguistic equity. Kindly submit your proposal by February 5, 2024.
