3CSN Civic Dialogues

Each weekly session of the series is two hours in length, from 12 pm to 2 pm. During the first hour our guest speaker will share their topic and address your questions. This will be followed with a facilitated discussion designed to help you consider how these ideas or models could be practiced on your campus or in your classrooms.
Our schedule of Civic Dialogues, topics, and speakers includes:
February 26 – Democracy “With” the People – Dr. David Mathews, President and CEO, Kettering Foundation and former U.S. Secretary of Education, Health, and Welfare, Ford Administration
March 5 – Reclaiming the Democratic Purpose of California’s Public Schools – Dr. John Rogers, Director, Institute for Democracy, Education, and Access (IDEA), University of California, Los Angeles and Dr. Joseph Kahne, Ted and Jo Dutton Presidential Chair in Education Policy and Politics, University of California, Riverside
March 12 – Awakening Democracy through Public Work – Dr. Harry Boyte, Co-founder of the Institute of Public Life and Work, Augsburg University and Senior Scholar in Public Work Philosophy
March 19 – Teaching Hope and Reviving Democracy – Dr. Sarah Stitlzein, Professor of Education and Affiliate Professor of Philosophy, University of Cincinnati
March 26 – How to Promote Democratic Engagement on College Campuses – Dr. Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, Executive Director, All In Campus Democracy Challenge at Civic Nation
